Courage Academy is the first learner-driven school in Colorado Springs designed for families who believe education should be about more than just standardized testing. While traditional public and private schools focus on rote memorization and “one-size-fits-all” instruction, we offer a real-world alternative that puts your child in the driver’s seat.
As an Acton Academy affiliate, we replace the factory-style classroom with a vibrant, Socratic community. Here, your child isn’t just a student—they are a hero on a journey. We combine the flexibility of self-paced learning with the rigor of mastery–based education, ensuring that every child builds the character, grit, and 21st-century skills needed to thrive in a rapidly changing economy.
“If you’re a parent looking for more than the traditional school model—one that fosters grit, curiosity, and joy in learning—Courage Academy is an absolute gem in Colorado Springs. We couldn’t be happier to be a part of this community!”
-Sparks Mom
For decades, the “factory model” of schooling has remained largely unchanged. Students sit in rows, follow instructions, and memorize facts to pass standardized tests—only to forget that information moments after the exam. In a modern economy that rewards creativity, problem-solving, and independence, this passive approach to learning is no longer enough.
At Courage Academy, we believe parents in Colorado Springs are looking for something more. You aren’t just looking for a school; you are looking for a launchpad. You want an environment where your child isn’t just a number in a district database, but a hero on a journey toward discovering their unique calling.
“I’ve seen my learner grow more confident in their opinions and beliefs, take ownership of their failures, learn to listen to others, and grow as a leader.“
-Elementary Parent

Our mission is simple but radical: Stop Schooling and Start Solving. We trade the traditional classroom for a studio environment. We replace the lecture-heavy curriculum with high-stakes Quests. At Courage Academy, we don’t ask children to sit still and listen; we challenge them to stand up and lead. This shift from passive student to active learner is the foundation of everything we do. By putting your child in the driver’s seat of their own education, we cultivate a level of self-confidence and agency that traditional schools simply cannot replicate.
As a proud Acton Academy affiliate, Courage Academy operates on the principle of Mastery-Based Learning. In the real world, a “C-” doesn’t cut it. If you’re building a bridge or coding an app, 70% accuracy is a failure.
In our studios, learners do not move forward until they have truly mastered a concept. This approach removes the “Swiss cheese” holes in a child’s education. Using the latest adaptive technology, our learners move at their own pace—advancing quickly through subjects they grasp easily and taking the necessary time to struggle through and conquer more difficult material. This builds grit—the perseverance to stick with a problem until it is solved.
Learning at Courage Academy is anchored in Quests—multi-week projects that tie together science, math, history, and entrepreneurship through a single real-world challenge. Whether they are launching a Children’s Business Fair, building a working electrical grid, or drafting a mock constitution, our learners are constantly applying their knowledge to tangible outcomes.
These quests are designed to be “hands-on.” We believe that discovery is the best teacher. When a learner fails at a task, they aren’t punished with a red mark on a paper; they are given the opportunity to reflect, try again, and find a solution. This is how true innovation happens.

The Spark of an Idea: When we became parents to twin boys, we didn’t just dream of a school; we dreamed of a training ground—a place that would nurture their self-confidence, agency, and bold spirits. We wanted more than a classroom that taught them how to follow instructions; we wanted a community that taught them how to solve real-world problems.
The Turning Point: Our search led us to an Acton Academy in Denver. Walking through those doors, we saw a light in the children’s eyes unlike anything we had seen in traditional education. These weren’t just students; they were learners in the driver’s seat, tackling challenges with a level of grit and independence that felt like the future.
Bringing the Adventure to Colorado Springs: At that moment, we knew this wasn’t just an adventure we wanted for our sons—it was a mission we wanted for our city. We realized that families in the Pikes Peak region were hungry for an alternative to the status quo. We are proud to launch Courage Academy, the very first Acton Academy affiliate in Colorado Springs. We aren’t just opening a school; we are building a home for the next generation of leaders, creators, and heroes ready to thrive in the modern economy.
